Why I Believe Jesus Is God

As promised I am following up my last post which I talked about my belief in a deity and will mention the reasons why I believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate. These are some of the reasons why I embrace Christianity.

1. It Was Prophesied

In the Old Testament There are several mentions of a plan to redeem man who consistently fall into sin. The old way was the people had to offer animal sacrifices to atone for their sins. This was insignificant as it only covered past sins and was a”shadow of things to come”(Col 2:17. ) The prophets were told this and pointed people to a coming Messiah or Saviour:

       Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear A son, and 
        Shall call his name Immanuel.
                                                       (Isaiah 7:14 ESV)

         And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also
          walk in my judgments and observe my statues, and do them.
                                                          (Ezekiel 37:24 KJV)

2.His Claims

Jesus was who said he was or was a total liar. There is no sitting on the fence when it comes to him being the Christ either He is or He isn’t.He was nearly thrown off a cliff when He declared His Lordship (Luke 4:16-44. )He was often threatened with violence because of his claims. Peter knew who He was and declared to Him (Mark 8:29)and later preach that he was God in the flesh(Acts). Jesus summed it up when he said this “The Father and I are one”(John 10:30)

3. His resurrection

Jesus did what no other religious leader was able to do; that is came back from the dead. This is recorded in all four gospels. Not only that but over 500 people claimed to have seen the resurrected Christ as it would be difficult to get that many people to conspire to a falsehood.Also, they have never been able to find a body And will never find one for that reason. There is also Stephen’s testimony in Acts 6.

4.Mark On History

There is no question about his impact on human history. Until recently calendars used to be numbered by the years He walked on this Earth. Just about everybody has an opinion on him as they believe his claims others just heal him as a great prophet or teacher. Even those who don’t follow him admire his teachings. Others go to great lengths to prove He never existed. But very few people are indifferent towards him and very few sit on the fence when it comes to Jesus.

5. Martyrdom 

With the amount of people who have killed, tortured and faced other forms of persecution, it is hard to believe that so many people would give their lives for a deception or for a false teacher. Not to mention that persecution as been very strong in the last 150 years in many parts of the world. If Jesus’ name didn’t carry any weight I doubt the amount of persecution would be so great.

These are just some of the reasons why I believe Jesus Christ is Lord.

What Is A Red Tory?

 My politics have shifted over the past few years as I have gone from being a libertarian to social conservative to being middle of the road. The position I have embraced is Red Toryism as I was a supported of the Progressive Conservative Party Of Canada and later the Conservative Party Of Canada but I have not supported the later in years. My political heroes have included former Prime Ministers Sir.John A MacDonald, Sir Robert Borden and John Diefenbaker. But the problem I am having is what does it mean to be a Red Tory and what Red Toryism is. It is often described by the media as “fiscally conservative and socially liberal” but many Neo-conservative governments such as Mike Harris in Ontario and Ralph Klein in Alberta espoused these views are definitely not Red Tories. Why I Am Arminian

 I have debated this topic for a while in my Christian walk and have come to some conclusions as I researched it .What I am talk about is the Calvinism vs Arminianism debate and have come up on one side. This is the Arminian side of this debate and these are some reasons why. The first reason is the most central to this issue is free will which goes back to the Garden where Adam and Eve had a choice and unfortunately made the wrong one. Since then we have all become deprived and have the choice whether or not to follow God. There are of course consequences if we choose to follow him or not. This is not taking from the sovereignty of God but as created beings we have we will.
