Second Wave Coming?
Things have calmed down a little bit in Ontario,Canada with the Corona virus as we even had a day where there were no reported deaths. As a result business and churches are slowly opening up to the public as well as many parks and beaches. Many municipalities are passing laws that require people wear masks in public to protect others. However, there is reason to believe a second wave may be coming soon.
While in most places people have been good about wearing masks and social distancing there are a few places where these guidelines have been ignored. For instance my wife and I went into a pharmacy where virtually no one including the staff were wearing masks and the shopping carts were being sanctioned. Not to mention social distancing was not being practiced. I would like to believe that this was an isolated incident but I am led to believe this is going on more places than we realize.
Beaches and parks where they are being open are being crowd by people and social distancing is not being practiced. Many carriers do not show any symptoms and could be spreading the virus without knowing it. Plus many are from the GTA which has the highest amount of reported cases in Ontario.
Things may be calming down in Canada, our neighbours to the south are still in the midst of the first wave with as three million reported cases in the United States. Also with the more lax restrictions in some areas and it being more densely populated is showing no signs of letting up. Even with tighter border restrictions Canada is bound to feel the effects from this and unless a wall built at the Canadian-US border we are bound to have more cases.
Finally, unless a vaccine is developed no nation is completely out of the woods as it only takes one unknown carrier to infect many. And nations can only quarantine people for so long.
In the meantime, we must remember to regularly wash hands, wear our masks in public and stay home if we are sick. Hopefully, I will be proven wrong and this will pass and things can finally return to normal.
